About Us
The Mashelkar–Swarup Space and Innovation Centre, Junnar, established under ISRO’s Space Tutor Program, is a first-of-its-kind, future-ready interdisciplinary laboratory designed to promote experiential learning, scientific temper, and innovation across
multiple emerging and frontier technologies.
This advanced innovation lab integrates state-of-the-art working models and hands-on learning ecosystems in the domains of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), Space Astronomy, Space Science and Technology, 3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing, Robotics, Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), CAD–CAM Modelling, Aircraft Design and Aerodynamics, Rocketry, Drone Technology (UAVs), and allied engineering and space sciences. Each domain is supported by functional prototypes and live demonstrative systems, ensuring learning beyond theory and textbooks.
The Centre is envisioned as a regional and state-level hub for space education, innovation, and skill development, catering to students from Grade 1 through graduation level, including school students, undergraduate learners, researchers, and aspiring innovators. While primarily serving students of Junnar, the Centre will also extend its reach across Maharashtra, making high-quality space and technology education accessible to a wider academic community.
Key academic and outreach activities of the Centre include:
• Hands-on training programs and laboratory-based learning sessions.
• Workshops, webinars, seminars, and expert lectures by academicians and industry professionals.
• Short-term and long-term certificate programs in emerging technologies and space sciences.
• Student innovation, research, and prototype development support.
• Research, innovation, and extension services aligned with national priorities.
• Interdisciplinary conferences, exhibitions, and innovation challenges.
• Faculty Development Programs (FDPs) for teachers to enhance pedagogical and technical competencies.
• Skill development and capacity-building initiatives aligned with NEP 2020 and national skilling missions.
The Mashelkar–Swarup Space and Innovation Centre aims to nurture curiosity, creativity, and scientific inquiry, inspire future scientists and engineers, and create a strong foundation for India’s space, science, and innovation ecosystem. By combining ISRO-aligned vision, experiential learning, and inclusive outreach, the Centre will serve as a model innovation laboratory for space education and technology integration in India.
